Asha for Education, the mission of which is to provide educational empowerment to the underprivileged children in India, has launched a two month campaign to raise $200,000 from July 15th to September 15th for 15 special projects spread in rural India, called Work An Hour 2008. It is a simple concept asking you to donate one hour of your salary or more towards this cause.

One of these projects is the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement Tribal Center for Learning (SVYM-TCL) for which our enthusiastic Boston/MIT team is leading an effort to raise $25,000 towards a Mobile Science Van that could serve as a lab on wheels for the hundreds of children.

Please take a moment to visit the website , http://www.workanhour.com , to learn about our campaign and donate your hour for the children!

Job Postings :: Position of Financial Representative at The Bulfinch Group

Author: netsapboston
Subject: Position of Financial Representative at The Bulfinch Group
Posted: Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:37 am (GMT -5)
Topic Replies: 0

The Bulfinch Group is a financial services firm with 65 financial representatives (35 support staff), located in Needham, MA with offices throughout New England. Our firm appoints 12 new associates in our organization annually. As a business model, new associates participate in a development program designed to deliver the necessary financial services, technical knowledge and practical management skills needed to succeed. We retain 66%+ of our representatives for longer than 5 years.

According to Money.com (2006) the financial services career is rated as the 3rd best career of choice today (after Software Engineer & College Professor). Benefits include:

1. You own your practice and clientele,
2. You get renewable income and are a private business owner (Schedule C).
3. You get a defined benefit pension based on your production.
4. You learn how to be an entrepreneur, not just a stockbroker, insurance agent or banker,
5. You positively help people, and have an impact on their families, businesses and employees.

The reason that The Bulfinch Group has experienced the significant growth which has brought it to its current size has to do with how we differentiate our representatives and the service we provide clientele.

We help clients understand the interrelated nature of financial decisions so that they can achieve greater wealth and security through efficiency and cost reduction. New associates are taught to evaluate financial strategies on a macroeconomic basis and understand the interrelated nature of financial decision making. By coordinating financial strategies, creating greater efficiency, cost, and tax reduction, we often provide clients greater wealth and protection often without assuming more risk or requiring additional out-of-pocket outlay.

We offer clients comprehensive personal financial services:

□	Life Insurance □ Investment Advisory
□	Disability Insurance □ College Planning
□	Long Term Care Insurance □ Retirement Planning

“I began a career with The Bulfinch Group for a few simple reasons: i) the services they provide are rewarding; ii) the training is extensive; and iii) the income potential is dependent upon how hard you work. Having been in the financial services industry for nearly 10 years, as a Financial Advisor and Marketing Director, I decided to return to working with clients and building my practice. After researching numerous financial institutions, I joined the firm, and work closely with another member of the firm who has been in the financial services industry for nearly 25 years. As a team, we work collaboratively to develop economically-sound financial strategies that enable our clients to help achieve their dreams and goals.”

Hi,

I'm a graduate student in the school of journalism at Northeastern University and I'm writing an article on corporate communication with a focus on highly qualified/educated international professionals working in and around Boston, who face communication challenges due to language difference, more so because of accents.

Do you think accents become an impediment to career growth?

How has your company addressed your need for better communication and language skills?

How do accents affect communication in an organization/company?

Do you feel you are treated differently at work because of your accents?

Please share your opinions and experiences

Thanks.
